Holosun 507C & 407C: comparison and differences, & full manual

In this video I will compare two popular red dots from Holosun: Holosun 507C and Holosun 407C.

I will also show you a manual on how to operate both of them.

Both Holosuns: 507C as well as 407C use the Trijicon RMR footprint standard. Any mounting device (plate or mount) with that footprint will therefore also allow you to use both of these.

Comparison & differences

What are the key differences between Holosun 507C and 407C? Lets see:

Multi reticle system

The only difference is that Holosun 507C has multi reticle system while Holosun 407C has only a dot.

507C allows you to choose from a 2 MOA dot, 32 MOA circle and a combination of both: 32 MOA circle with 2 MOA dot.

Unique functions of both

What unique features do these two red dots share? Lets see below:

Shake awake technology

Both of the sights have shake awake technology.

It makes the red dot deactivate automatically when not in use. And then activating it again automatically, whenever you pickup your gun.

As a consequence, this extends the battery life up to 50 000 hours (almost 6 years).

Nevertheless, I highly recommend getting new battery as soon as the red dot arrives - the factory battery can be drained right out of the box.

The red dot uses the CR1632 battery.

Certification IP67

Both of these sights are IP67 certified. That means that they are fully dustproof and can be safely submerged in water up to 1 meter for 30 minutes.

Manual

Both of these sights are operated the same - just with the difference that 407C does not have multi reticle system, thus its not possible to swich them.

You will operate all the functions through these two buttons on left side of the optics.

Power: on

Press either of the two buttons to turn it on.

Power: off

Press both buttons simultaneously.

Change the mode for brightness settings

Press the plus buton for 3 seconds to change the mode.

There are three brightness modes:

  • auto mode - automatically adjusts brightness & supply from battery / solar
  • manual mode - you will have to select the brightness manually
  • lockout mode - to lock the settings so it cannot be changed by accident

Change of intensity of the LED in manual mode

If you chosen the manual mode, then you can adjust the brightness by shortly pressing the plus or the minus button.

Minus button = less brightness | Plus button = more brightness.

Change of reticle

This is possible only on the Holosun 507C as 407C does not have multi reticle system.

To change the reticle, hold the minus button for 3 seconds.

Adjust windage and elevation

For this you will need the adjusting tool that is in the box.

The turrent on the right side of optic elevates the dot.

The turrent from the top of the optic does the windage adjustment.

In both cases, one click = 1 MOA adjustment.

What is inside the box

  • mounting and adjusting tool
  • sets of screws for different mounting surfaces
  • red dot sight itself
  • and then also warranty, manual, polishing cloth
